Diego M. A. Guérin
Researcher (UPV/EHU)
Diego M. A. Guérin earned his Ms and PhD in Physics from the National University of La Plata, Argentina. He did a postdoctoral research stage (1986-87) at the Purdue University working on Rhinovirus structure with M. Rossmann, and then at the Institute Pasteur, in Paris, to work on the modellization of Poliovirus epitopes with R. Poljak. Dr. Guérin was visiting researcher at the NIH-NCI Frederick Cancer Research & Development Center, US, (1993), at the Institute Pasteur (1997-1998), and at Instituto de Biología Molecular de Barcelona (2001.2002). His research lines have been focused on several aspect of virus: i) to unravel non-enveloped capsid assembly and disassembly using Triatoma virus (TrV) as model; ii) the potential use of TrV as control agent of Chagas disease vectors, and iii) the TrV-VLPs as carrier of pathogen’s epitopes in the development of chimeric vaccines against parasitic diseases.
