Short bio

Master in Biology in 2004 by the University of Copenhagen (Denmark), Jan Tønnesen move to the Wallenberg Neuroscience Center of the Lund University in Sweden to obtain his PhD in 2010. After a Postdoctoral period at the Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience of the University of Bordeaux in France from 2010 to 2015, he gain a position as Researcher with the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) in the same Institute. In 2016, Jan Tønnesen joined the Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience and the University of the Basque Country as Ramon y Cajal Fellow before obtaining a CSIC Scientist position in the Instituto Biofisika in 2024, where he moved his Neuronal Excitability Laboratory, becoming also the Scientific Director of BRALM.
