Jérôme Solon is an Ikerbasque Professor and group leader interested in understanding the mechanisms at the origin of force generation, coordination and regulation in biological tissues during animal development. Jérôme obtained a PhD in soft matter physics from the Curie Institute (France). He received postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania (USA) and European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL, Germany). He served as a group leader of the Biomechanics of Morphogenesis lab in the Cell and Developmental Biology Program at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG, Spain) in 2009-2019. His work has been published in prestigious journals including eLife, Developmental Cell, Current Biology. The Ministry of Science and Innovation, Economy and Competitiveness funded his research.
