Mónica Carril

Ikerbasque Research Associate

She obtained her PhD in Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2006. After 2 postdoctoral stays in Germany (RWTH Aachen and TUM) working in the field of catalysis she joined CIC biomaGUNE to work in the field of nanotechnology applied to imaging, mostly in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). As an Ikerbasque Research Fellow she developed fluorinated nanoparticles dispersible in water with application in 19F MRI as contrast agents. Since May 2018 she joined Biofisika as an Ikerbasque Research Associate to further develop the applications of fluorinated nanostructures in biologically relevant environments.
