Kepa Ruiz-Mirazo
Researcher (UPV/EHU)
Kepa Ruiz-Mirazo (former Ramón y Cajal fellow) is permanent research staff of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). Bachelor in Physics (5-year degree: 1990-1994 — specialization: Solid State Physics), with a Masters in Science Education (Society, Science and Technology in Europe: 1994-1995) and a PhD in Sciences (Complex Systems interdisciplinary program: 1997-2001), he was post-doctoral researcher at the Centre for Astrobiology (CSIC-INTA; Madrid, 2002), at the Institute for Polymers of ETH-Z (Zürich, 2003) and at the D. Biology of Universitá Roma Tre (Rome, 2004). At present, he shares his academic time between the D. Logic & Philosophy of Science, in Donostia–San Sebastian, and the Biophysics Unit (CSIC-UPV/EHU), in Leioa (Bilbao), developing both experimental and theoretical protocell models, within the context of a more general activity of philosophical reflection on the problems of definition, origins and evolution of life.
