Infrared Spectroscopy Structural Studies of Biomolecules

Infrared Spectroscopy Structural Studies of Biomolecules

In the nineteen eighties, our laboratory pioneered the application of infrared spectroscopy to the study of the structure of lipids and proteins. Currently we are developing the new technology of two-dimensional IR spectroscopy (2DCOS), applying it to the analysis of the structure and conformational changes of proteins, lipids and their complexes. The main areas on which we are currently focusing our attention are:

  • Study of sphingomyelin-colesterol mixtures

  • Membrane proteins and lipoproteins

  • Amyloidogenesis

  • Protein-DNA interactions
