El grupo de Nanomecánica de Membranas de la Unidad de Biofísica, Universidad del País Vasco (http://biofisika.org) busca candidato postdoctoral para solicitar una beca JdC en su modalidad de formación o de incorporación. El grupo posee reconocida experiencia internacional en el estudio de los mecanismos moleculares de morfogénesis de membranas celulares usando técnicas innovadoras donde se combina el campo de la biofísica con la nanotecnología (Shnyrova et. al, Science, 2013; Matilla et al., Nature 2015; Geng et al., Nature 2014).
Estamos buscando personas altamente motivadas y con ganas de dedicarse a la investigación científica de alto nivel. Se valorarán conocimientos en física y/o bioquímica/biología celular del candidato y su experiencia previa en investigación.

The group Membrane Nanomechanics @ the Biophysics Unit, University of the Basque Country (http://biofisika.org) seeks postdoctoral candidates to apply to a Juan de la Cierva fellowship in either of its modalities.
We study how cells create and maintain the complex and dynamic architecture at their membranes. We apply cutting-edge nanotechnology and biophysics methods to unravel the fundamental molecular mechanisms of membrane remodeling
(Shnyrova et al, Science, 2013;. Matilla et al, Nature 2015.; Geng et al., Nature 2014).
We are looking for highly motivated and eager to engage in high-level scientific research candidates.
The successful candidate should have a degree in physics and/or biochemistry/cell biology and have previous research experience in the lab.

CLOSED – Convocatoria FPU2015 in Nanoscience/Biophysics

Deadline: 2015/12/16

Thinking about applying for FPU2015 consider the group of Membrane Nanomechanics (Biophysics Unit, University of the Basque country, Bilbao). The prospective candidate is expected to participate in international collaborative projects focused on membrane remodeling by proteins (Shnyrova et. al, Science, 2013; Matilla et al., Nature 2015) and synthetic membrane channels based upon carbon nanotubes (Geng et al., Nature 2014).

We are looking for a highly motivated person dedicated to research with the background either in physics or biochemistry/cell biology (average mark higher than 8 is desirable).

Nuestro interés científico se centra, principalmente, en las bases moleculares y celulares de diversas condiciones cognitivas. Concretamente, nuestro objetivo es identificar los mecanismos moleculares y sinápticos subyacentes a los procesos de aprendizaje y memoria, así como en situaciones en los que se produce un incremento o un déficit de la función cognitiva. La elucidación de estos mecanismos facilita la búsqueda de nuevas dianas terapéuticas para una variedad de trastornos cognitivos. Nuestra experiencia en distintas disciplinas científicas (medicina, comportamiento animal, electrofisiología, biología molecular, morfología) nos permite el uso de enfoques multidisciplinares necesarios en la investigación moderna en neurociencia.

Specifically, our goal is to identify molecular and synaptic mechanisms underlying learning and memory processes, cognitive malfunction and cognitive enhancement. The elucidation of these mechanisms facilitates the nomination of new therapeutic targets to a variety of cognitive disorders. Our experience in different scientific disciplines (medicine, animal behavior, electrophysiology, molecular biology, morphology) allows us to use the multidisciplinary approach that is necessary in the modern neuroscience research.
